JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cabling Systems Design Engineer role serves as a “hands on” subject matter expert for a large, diverse, and complex project in the Hyperscale Data Center industry, performing modeling of data center standards in an internal tool. This role requires excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills. The applicant must be well organized, perform tasks with precision and attention to detail.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Reviews proprietary data center cabling standards (similar to Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) standards) and converts them to business logic in an internal/proprietary tool.
- Performs required configuration, test, and review to implement logic and capabilities necessary for internal/proprietary tool to virtually execute a cabling standard.
- Obtains data from various systems, performing data transformation as necessary in tools such as Microsoft Excel to import in an in-house data center management system.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for their assigned product/project capable of performing demonstrations and explaining features and benefits.
- Works directly with end customer representatives to understand their organization at all facets (business model, processes, and users) and translate their requirements as necessary into the internal tool.
- Engages actively in the software development lifecycle for the system, performing quality assurance activities as required to ensure quality product delivery.
- Creating technical specifications and test plans as necessary.
- Other project/customer work as required from time to time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working familiarity with MS Office 365.
- US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency with the ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance is required. For Permanent Residents, this means having resided in the US for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of the Data Center and/or Telecommunications industry.
- Prior experience reviewing technical drawings such as electrical drawings, floor plans and cable tray layout diagrams.
- Prior experience with copper and fiber optic cabling in a data center environment.
LOCATION: Virtual (No sponsorship is available currently).
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- A bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred, but not required.
- BICISI INSTF, TECHNICIAN or RCDD certification a plus, but not required.
